Design System Tech Lead

Tech Lead for the Orange Design System, and later the Orange Unified Design System, driving both organizational strategy and technical execution to scale design and engineering practices across the company.

Design SystemsLeadershipOrange
More details

Led the evolution of Orange's design system from a web-focused framework into a unified, cross-platform ecosystem supporting the entire organization. Built upon the existing open source Bootstrap-based framework used by hundreds of projects, Boosted, while structuring multidisciplinary squads to develop equivalent implementations across Android, iOS, and Flutter. Defined technical architecture, governance models, contribution workflows, and adoption strategies to ensure consistency, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

  • Led the strategic analysis and launch of the transition from the Orange Design System (group-focused) to the Orange Unified Design System: a single cohesive design system merging France and Group initiatives into a unified cross-platform vision.
  • Member of the Bootstrap Core Team, maintaining one of the most widely used front-end frameworks worldwide.
  • Established strong collaboration between developers, designers, and accessibility experts to deliver accessible, reusable, and production-ready components aligned with design tokens and shared standards.
  • Introduced Storybook as a development hub, integrating components with Zeroheight to bridge design and engineering workflows and improve developer experience.
  • Promoted adoption through internal webinars, technical advocacy, and community engagement, significantly increasing awareness and usage across teams.
  • Initiated and maintained additional open source projects for Orange, including themes and integrations for Storybook, Leaflet, and Apache ECharts, strengthening internal tooling and ecosystem consistency.

Focused on platform alignment, accessibility-by-design, performance, and enabling product teams to ship faster with a cohesive user experience across platforms.

More details

QML expert and referent:

  • Created a QML reformatter based on Qt Creator's source code, part of the continuous integration, which led to bug reports and fixes submitted to Qt Creator.
  • Put in place QML Coding Conventions for the Orange TV QML developers.
  • Studied various subjects: virtual keyboard, accessibility (contrast and zoom), internationalization, fonts.
  • In charge of the library of reusable graphical items.
  • Created the skeleton of the C++/QML graphical applications (also runnable in Desktop mode), with QML unit tests (QQuickTest) and graphical testing (qmlscene).
  • Created and led a 2-day QML training session twice for the scrum team.

Qt 4/C++ Developer

C++ embedded developer in Orange STBs (Livebox Play IHD92 Sagem).

QtC++Embedded
More details

The beginning of QML inside Orange STBs:

  • Designed and developed as a proof of concept the first QML-based application embedded in Orange STBs: the new main menu of the Livebox Play offer (Polaris project, video in French). Even with the buggy QML 1 version, the results were astonishing.

Before QML, pure C++ development:

  • Maintained and evolved 3 applications and 1 library written in Qt 4.7.4: the graphical main menu (QtWidgets and some OpenGL), the multi-application manager (graphic layers, keyboard and remote events, application states, pop-ups, Opera, Blu-ray) using the Intel Multi-Application Framework, DirectFB, EGL and GDL, and the user settings service (SQLite 3).
  • Developed a game downloading application.

Around the project:

  • Put in place CI processes (Jenkins) and quality tools (SonarQube, Coverity, Artistic Style for C++); compared the commercial and open source C++ SonarQube plugins.
  • Wrote integration tests with Selenium IDE in a Raspberry Pi environment and an automatic release note creator in Java.
  • Used Valgrind.

C++Web ServicesUnixApache
More details
  • API for audio conferencing: SOAP API used mostly by an internal remote meetings tool. Several versions of 3 Web Services in C/C++ (Apache modules) linked to independent SQLite3 databases; evolved the whole product during the move to an external IP bridges offer; audio bridge simulator in Qt 4 for Desktop.
  • Softphones authentication: 4 versions of a platform authenticating softphones and providing their configuration for the PC Centric and Orange Surf (Livephone App) offers. Created the MySQL architecture (master and slaves), scaled during the project to support 9M customers; developed 2 Web Services, customer data scripts, a Web 2.0 page for marketing and production statistics and a C++ monitoring application; technical support for operations and an Indian metrology team.
  • STB authentication: reused and simplified the softphones authentication to build, alone, a product routing Orange TV STBs to the services.
  • Integrated the Apache module Axis2/C into the Web Services instead of gSOAP, then the open source project WSF-Staff, contributing bug reports and fixes.
  • Created a side project (Web 2.0 and shell scripting) generating ready-to-code, install and test C++ projects based on Apache modules (simple, Axis2/C and Staff); presented it to a large assembly of developers in an amphitheater during the Dev Days.
  • Put in place unit tests with SoapUI, load tests (LoadUI and JMeter) and advanced Apache configurations.
  • Started as intern for 4 months in 2008, then apprentice for 2 years (2008–2010).
