A few years ago, I launched Open {re}Source as a way to document my journey in open source and connect with people who enjoy building in the open. It started as a small side project, and somehow turned into a place where I share lessons learned, cool tools I discover, and conversations with people way smarter than me.
But over time, I felt something was missing.
Open {re}Source is intentionally focused on open source. That’s the point. The problem is: not everything I want to write about fits neatly under that label. Sometimes it’s a personal reflection. Sometimes it’s an industry trend. Sometimes it’s just an idea I’m exploring, half-baked and evolving. And sometimes… it’s just something I find interesting.
So instead of trying to squeeze everything into the same box, I decided to create a new one.
That’s how deramond.dev was born.
This is a more personal space. A place where I can write about design systems, things I’m building, things I’m learning, product thoughts, experiments, and whatever else feels worth sharing.
It’s also a great excuse to buy a new domain (we love domains) and build something from scratch again. I used Astro, which I genuinely enjoy working with: simple, fast, developer-friendly. And it gave me a good excuse to play a bit with design too.
If you’re reading this, thanks, really. I’m not sure yet what this blog will fully become, but that’s kind of the point. It’s a space to think in public and see where it goes.
Hopefully this won’t be the only post here.
Stay tuned.
